From batteries and tapes, to the impacts of travel and equipment, making movies has traditionally been a resource-intensive activity. Ecoheartland is taking a number of measures to reduce our impact and green our production. These include:

-       Rental of the most fuel-efficient vehicle available for travel

-       Purchase of carbon-offsets to compensate for emissions

-       Use of a tapeless hard drive based camera

-       Use of all LED lighting

-       Use of rechargeable batteries and solar battery chargers

-       Use of reusable water bottles

-       Small, self-contained crew with low footprint

We look forward to testing other green production methods and integrating them into our workflow as appropriate. At the end of our project, we will create an internal assessment to evaluate current approaches and look for further opportunities to improve sustainability.
